Powerviolence Design: Ryan Russell Photography

I don't know why Ryan Russell isn't THE go-to man for musician portraits and band photos... he's been a favorite of mine for a while now, right next to Patrick Hoelck, and is finally getting his due in major publications. Not only has he mastered these types of photos, his live band shots and general subject photography are air-tight as well. The man has a perfect eye for lighting and color, even some how fusing his black and white shots with an vibrance that's second to none.

Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, and vehemently taking a powerful stance against digital photography, he deserves the utmost attention in this important independent craft. I can't say enough good things about his work, and honestly just can't wait to see more... but enough of my ego-massaging... see for yourself:
