Dispatches from Powerviolence: Spleen Latifa on perezhilton.com

Gnarfight the power... And gnarquestion all authority.

So here's the skinny, slitwrists... I won't bore you with all the business mumbo jumbo, cuz I'm sure your favorite trusted media and news outlets are handling that for you already... But down at the hive, my place of employment, the greedy fatcats have decided to alert us worker bees that we'll be having our benefits drastically slashed come the 22nd of this month. And in true powerviolence fashion, we aren't going along quietly, and have taken to the streets in quite the noisy fashion. Up until yesterday, I thought this was all going under the radar, until I was alerted to the fact that a vicious photo of yours truly with a face like a cagefightsharkfuck had popped up on America's leading celebrity gossip blog... I have to say, this has got to be the first time a Choking Victim canvas patch has shown up there. Anywho, take a peak at the Spleen flaunting tasty ways to destroy capitalism, and always remember it is better to shut it down than to create what is meaningless.

I have to say that is probably the greatest photo ever taken. But truth be told kiddo, you work FOR capitalism. Sorry to break it to you but corporate dickfucker's sign your paychecks and give you all those tasty benifits to begin with. You know what they say about biting the hand that feeds...yeah. Not that I disagree with protest, I'm all FOR fucking biting hands and tearing shit up, believe me. It's just that you're not exactly starting any revolutions, or fighting the "power." You guys are just putting up a big and nasty fuss so that the man in charge will listen. What is guised as standing up for what is right, is just a bold attempt to get your hands on a little more of the gold. Just giving them more publicity in the long run by adding this to your blog. I mean, think about it, what are you fighting for...peace? equality? or the almighty dollar? Ahhh...Capitalism at it's finest.

Don't get me wrong, I completely agree with you, pal... but if you are a steady reader of the BFoH blog, you'd understand the way we speak is slightly hammed up for comedic effect. So please don't hold a microscope to every word, this is a platform where we can be ridiculous and actually have fun writing on our terms. And yes, about the protest, you need to understand that the reason we are making a fuss out there is for the right to survive, most basically. And most importantly, survive by means that were promised to us and/or are what we deserve (ie. if i come down with something wicked tomorrow, i can rest assured that i wont be paying a handful of grands out of my pocket and put myself deep into debt, or the fact of paid holidays or PTO because last time I checked, the cost of living in NYC wasnt exactly the bottom of the American list, cuz I make basically table scraps on my paychecks as it is and constantly am doing freelance design work at nights and on weekends to get by, or when I'm older and need to retire from the workplace, there is something waiting for me to help live on without busting my ass as hard as i am now) So even though I do agree with you wholeheartedly about my job being direct center of the belly of capitalism (take your pick: being a designer, being in the entertainment industry, being in advertising, etc), But dont come to my house and tell me I'm being greedy. We are just trying to get by, and putting up a fuss because what they are doing to us really wont let us get by that easily in the long run. I dunno, I just don't feel like working my 50 hour work week, and then putting in another 25 at Home Depot or Starbucks so I can all the benefits I deserve from my full-time job... So if there's more you don't understand, want to hash out and joke with me on, or even just want to unjustly razz me about, you can find how to contact me on my contributor profile on the blog. Thank you for your interest, I truly appreciate taking the time to throw your views out on in a public forum, always good to see, and have a great night...
